Note: The past few Taghkanic elections have been decided by absentee votes which overturned the Election Night returns. There are reportedly 111 absentees in so far, mostly from Democrats.

Early Claverack results

According to a Claverack poll watcher, Weigelt leads Andrews by about 80 votes, with about 120 absentee votes to count.

Early Hudson results

According to 4th Ward Supervisor Bill Hughes, Bill Hallenbeck is ahead by 230-240 votes over Victor Mendolia in unofficial tallies of the Hudson Mayor's race.

In the 5th Ward aldermen race, Bart Delaney is the top vote getter, followed by Doc Donahue and then Eileen Halloran, per Hughes.

In the 3rd Ward, it's Friedman and Haddad over Martin; Miah and Garriga over Ivey in the 2nd; Keith and Stewart over Smart in the 4th, Hughes says.

Campbell over Kappel for Treasurer; all other races unopposed.

Turnout was very light in the key 2nd Ward, Hughes said: “Only the Bangaladeshi community turned out, not the African-Americans.”

Early Ghent returns

According to Patty Matheney in Ghent, Michael Benvenuto has easily defeated Richard Sardo in the race for Town Supervisor. Chuck Wood was the top vote getter for one of two open Town Board seats. The second seat is a dead heat currently between Mallory Mort and Larry Van Brunt, with just three votes separating the two (731 and 734, respectively). However, Matheney is confident based on the number of absentee ballots received so far, that Mort will prevail. (Absentees tend to break toward Democrats in many towns.)
