Two Freedom of Information Law requests were sent by The Valley
Alliance today to the City of Hudson and New York State Department of State.
The requests, which require a response, seek records verifying or allaying our previously-raised concern regarding the transfer of 4.4 acres of land along the waterfront.
As set forth in detail last month, our group has reason to believe this transfer was not properly made in 1981— meaning that the City likely still owns that acreage (and thus does not need to trade away special privileges to Holcim to obtain them).
Regardless of whether the City is still contemplating any land deal with Holcim, we believe Hudson has both a right and an obligation to inventory and safeguard its property.
For example, if the City in fact still owns the 4.4 waterfront acres, that has both fiscal and liability ramifications. And it also presents a new opportunity for positive development and public recreation.
