Claverack resident Meyer (Sandy) Frucher has been in the Statewide news a lot lately. Frucher, the former head of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange and a key political mentor of Andrew Cuomo, is now the head of New York State’s Off Track Betting. OTB has come into in the media's crosshairs due to the possibility of widespread layoffs or even a shutdown—as well as complaints from breeders who seem to think Frucher has it in for them. Given his close ties to Cuomo, their call for the Attorney General (and all-but-certain next Governor) to investigate Frucher seem kind of improbable; but I don’t profess to be an expert in the politics of State-sponsored gambling....
