In addition to yesterday’s brief report on an excellent dinner at Crossroads Food Shop, here are a few more local culinary tidbits:
• Longtime Hudson resident (and ace pilot) Steve Walsh is planning a Brazilian food cart this summer in Hudson, to be located in the 500 block alley which runs from Warren Street to Columbia, across from Mexican Radio. Steve is also organizing a weekend water taxi service between Hudson and Athens starting in May.
• Giovanni diMola at 3FortySeven likewise is planning several food carts in the shop’s front court, possibly including Indian and Thai plus Truck Pizza along with a beer garden in its large backyard, once the weather gets warm. (It’ll be 72 degrees tomorrow...) The Truck Pizza van has been spotted parked along Route 9 in Stockport; their website says they’ll be back this month.
• For my money, the best vegetarian lunch value in Hudson is the mushroom burrito at Bruno’s in the 200 block. Add a side of Wendy and Shannon’s root vegetable slaw and you’ll be extra happy.
• Da|Ba in Hudson will be back from vacation this coming weekend; I’ve been missing my tempeh sandwich with avacado, grilled onions and sriracha.
• Only three Columbia County restaurants (American Glory, Baba Louie’s and Café Le Perche in Hudson, plus Greens in Copake) are participating in Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. Running March 18th through the 31st, participants are offering special $21 lunches and $30 dinners, excluding drinks, tax and tip.
