Tiffany Martin Hamilton, who was recently elected to the Hudson school board, has posted an online petition to Save the Furgary Boat Club at this link.
Like Gold’s Scrap Yard (which was pushed out by the City in the late ’90s) before it, the Furgary has long been important to Hudson’s character, heritage and family lore. It would be a shame to lose it, and surely there are other options besides eviction.
As with Gold’s, it seems doubly weird that the same politicians who have postured for years about hanging on to “the old Hudson” are the ones who are eager to get rid of one of its older and most distinctive institutions.
